Gardaí are investigating an incident involving members of a GAA club in Ballyragget, Co. Kilkenny on Tuesday night.

Video footage emerged from a celebration party following the club's county final hurling victory, appearing to show strippers and sex acts being performed.

Journalist Ewan McKenna says things like this are not uncommon.

"I found it funny to see the mask of middle Ireland slip, everyone coming out high and mighty and saying this is outrageous and a disgrace."

"It's unfortunate, but rather than shouting from the pulpit and brushing it back under the carpet, if people are really bothered by the morals of it, any discussion needs to start with why it's wrong and why people do it."

Elaine Byrnes, Doctoral Researcher in Psychology at NUI Galway, thinks the fact that the video went viral is problematic.

"It's no longer a private event, and I think that's the problem. Who thought it was a good idea to video and take photographs of what was going on?"

"While it was alcohol-fuelled, the appraisal of what happened takes place sober. That puts a very different complexion on it."
