They are the institutional backbone of this country.
With the news that iconic Dublin nightclub 'Club 92' is to shut it's doors next month after 30 years Muireann wanted to remember those buildings that made up the moments of our lives.
Shifting, curry chips, sticky floors, and bolloxy bouncers. Just some of the ingredients that went into a great night out in a quality local nightclub experience.
Hi Muireann! The Tunnel niteclub arklow. Sawdust on the floor, a reeeeal classy establishment 😀great craic tho! Oh and a platform above the dance floor called the slut-trap!!!
The fountain blue in Longford....always a great spot for the shift on a Friday night. Ollie from Longford
Thanks to Eddie and Alan for their renditions of the Spirals Nightclub in Tralee and the Carraig Springs in Crosskeys!
Muireann, just for cheesy dancing and pure beours it has to be Havanas in Cork - Nathan
Oh MOC this is our own tune for our night club. Maximus in Nenagh 😂😂😂😂
Muireann, anyone who was anyone (well, culchi-wise anyway) went to The Thatch in Emly on a weekend. Please tell me you’ve been there? Well, any culchi from west limerick anyway 😂 Good times, great memories......from what I can remember anyway 😂 Tara Limerick
In Clonmel we had De'arms , Quay Largo which are both gone plus we had Dannos, it's still there but not open much, but it'll always be the place I met my good wife Fiona. Niall in Tipp

Muireann, the Beacon in Courtown with its springy dancefloor. And then down to the beach for a few more cans. Whopper!!!!
Muireann - the Warwick n galway is now becoming a nursing home 😂😂
I wasn't a club goer but I loved going to Eamonn Dorans in Temple Bar. I remember going into it when it was remodelled into Madonna's and thinking something was very wrong as the toilets were working, the chairs weren't (all) broken and the floor wasn't as sticky. Madness. Olivia
What about the Harrier's in Tullamore?? The bouncer on the door was called eyebrows.. ye’d be sweating while queuing holding this fake i d wondering would eyebrows MC cave notice😊😊😊 Fy in Offaly.
Muireann- Gatsby’s in Dunmanway was legendary in West Cork. No doors on the toilets- in the ladies and u could meet anyone from ur younger brother to your retired Geography teacher in there- Good times😂 - Cathy
OMG Gatsby’s !!!! Had some great Friday nights in Gatsby’s!! The entrance was and is still like going back to the 1800s....God only knows what it's like upstairs! you'd be scared going in until you get to the huge hall up the steps at the back!! Packed to capacity and a huge queue for 2 ladies toilets!! The DJ was brilliant!!! And that's what drew the crowd...that and the late serving😜. I remember years ago when they used to do the chicken suppers (that might have been on a Sun night)....
Didn't Sir Henry's in Cork in the late 90s..early 00s had an old Lady that sat in the ladies loo.. Handing out tissues and things.. Probably helped out a few worse for wear ladies too.. (I'm assuming I didn't imagine her after one too many 😄)
Revelles Niteclub Killarney. Best nite club ever. So good d resident DJ released a cd.........18yrs on I still have it playing........TUNES!! Derek
O'Riadas in Macroom is another spot that brings back memories of the chicken suppers😂😂. Food fights with Peas and Mash ground into the carpet area😂😂😂 In order to get a drinking licence back in the late 80s early 90s, night clubs had to serve food...
