Ken Loach’s lifelong commitment has been to challenge the political status quo. He is a director who has been willing to take on issues of social injustice consistently and courageously in his work.
Dublin’s IFI is currently presenting a two month celebration of Loach’s work, featuring rare work including the previously suppressed The Save the Children Fund Film (1969).
His portfolio of works include My Name Is Joe (1998), The Wind That Shakes the Barley (2006) and Looking for Eric (2009).
His latest film, Jimmy’s Hall, is released in cinemas on May 30th. Filmed in Leitrim and Sligo, it tells the story of Irish political activist Jimmy Gralton.
Ken Loach will be joining Matt Cooper this evening to talk about his work and career – and about why those rumours that Jimmy Hall’s is his last film are incorrect.
