62 per cent of people believe that housing is one of the key issues in the general election, according to a recent survey.
But it’s such a multi-faceted topic, taking in everything from homelessness to mortgage distress that most parties have confined their main policies to two areas – helping people secure affordable mortgages and building more houses so that the cost of purchasing a new home comes down.
We talk to the experts about what needs to be done to solve Ireland's housing crisis.
Guests:
Lorcan Sirr - Lecturer in urban economics and housing at DIT;
Carole Pollard - President of the Royal Institute of Architects in Ireland
Brendan Burgess - The Fair Mortgage Rates Campaign
We're also joined by general election candidates:
Mick Wallace - Independent TD for Wexford and general election candidate
Mary Fitzpatrick - Fianna Fáil candidate for Dublin Central and Dublin City Councillor
