Seanchaí Eddie Lenihan has previously been on The Last Word discussing fairies in Irish folklore.
He joined us again for our Friday interview to discuss the tradition of storytelling in Ireland.
"I suppose you could say a seanchaí is a teller of old things," he explained. "I have been collecting folklore for 42 years, and it takes in everything that people do with their lives."
Eddie said that "storytelling in the old sense is quite a different thing" from story writing. He also feels the storytellers of today are different to those who have gone before.
"Nowadays stories tend to be light and funny. The stories I tell today aren't humorous at all."
Eddie also demonstrated his storytelling skills for Matt.
