Matt's guest for this week's Friday Interview was poet and novelist Theo Dorgan.
Theo is one of several contributors to the book 'Cherish, Cherish, Cherish: Reflections on the 1916 Proclamation', in which he reflects on Ireland's history as a Republic.
Theo joined us to discuss the subject, looking at both the foundation of the State and our present society. He had some powerful words to say about his feelings as an Irish citizen:
"There’s the State, and then there’s me. Frankly, that's exhausting. I just want to be left alone to write poems but when I look at what that means for the poor and the powerless, I can’t just stand and look at it so I try to talk against it."
