Paul Duane's latest project is now on DVD.
‘Natan’ is a documentary on film-maker Bernard Natan.
Natan was a Romanian immigrant to Paris who “re-invented French cinema during the years when movies were transitioning from silent to sound.”
According to Duane, Natan “was then systematically ruined, imprisoned, and handed over to the Nazis who sent him to Auschwitz where he died. After his death, the rumour was spread that he was a pornographer and a performer in his own porno movies."
"It's only now, via our low-budget, 100% Irish-funded film that the French are waking up to this awful story."
"This year the first plaque to Natan went up in his former studio”.
