Destiny is a ‘shared-world shooter’ set seven-hundred years in the future in a post-apocalyptic version of our solar system.
It’s made by the creators of Halo and the publishers of Call of Duty and plays much like a blend between the two.
The publisher said it sold $500m worth of stock into retail for day one – meaning that they have recouped its famous $500m development budget within 24 hours.
Games journalist Joe Griffin says it’s a beautiful looking game, with cinematic, grand vistas and fabulous location and character design.
Although the open-world shooter has been done before, and Destiny is quite similar to the Borderlands games, Joe told the Last Word that it's an epic, ambitious game, and one he’ll be playing for longer than he dares to think.
