A consortium of prosecco makers, backed by the Italian government, is threatening British pubs with legal action and fines unless they stop serving the fizzy wine from kegs.
Shane Molony of ‘Riba’ in Stillorgan Dublin and Paolo Borza of ‘Borza Take Away’ dropped in to studio earlier.
Riba opened in January of last year and their decision to serve prosecco by the glass from a keg has proved very popular with customers.
Shane told ‘The Last Word’ that the quality of prosecco on tap is in fact much better than the quality from the bottle.
There’s also a value component with the cost of a glass costing just €6 at Riba in comparison to purchasing a bottle which can cost anything from €35 onward.
