Scientists at Goldsmith’s who conducted a study of 11,000 British children found no reliable association between breastfeeding and higher IQ at age two.
Nor was breastfeeding related to improvements in IQ after the age of two, indicating that it did not help young brains develop better over time.
Chrissie Russell, features writer at the Irish Independent & breastfeeding mum says that no one breastfeeds in order to create a genius child.
She says there is ample evidence that breastfeeding has other health benefits, not to mention creating a bond between mother & child.
