US politicians line up to wheel out the same old Irish cliches with mentions of Guinness, the Emerald Isle and even a "Top of The Morn" from President Obama himself.
Taoiseach Enda Kenny told an audience at the Irish embassy that he was enjoying his trip to Washington so much that "bejaysus, I wish I didn't have to go back and face what I have to face but c'est le vie."
However, he wasn’t the only one sounding like a character from The Quiet Man, with President Obama and House of Representatives speaker Paul Allen going down the Paddywhackery route.
Daniel McConnell, political editor with the Irish Examiner, said the caretaker Taoiseach was looking a bit weary in Washington following a difficult couple of weeks.
