Bloom in the Park began today in Dublin’s Phoenix Park and The Last Word spoke with two of the garden designers involved with the festival.
Humanitarian agency GOAL are going to open Ireland’s first ‘slum’ garden.
The garden aims to highlight some of the many ways GOAL is working with people living in ‘slums’ around the world to help improve health, water, sanitation, livelihood opportunities and general standard of living.
Joan Mallon is the designer of the garden and she recently went to Nairobi with GOAL to visit the Mukuru slum there to understand for herself about some of the challenges that people face on a daily basis.
Fiann Ó’Nualláin is the only Irish garden designer to have exhibited a garden at every Bloom.
This year Fiann’s garden is called Beauty Full - a wonderful garden creation from Bloom which aims to highlight the amazing botanical and plant based beauty treatments which can be found in the garden.
