A survey of Irish drivers by the Road Safety Authority has found that more than 60 per cent of people had broken the 100km speed limit. Almost 70 per cent said they had broken the 50km limit. The survey, based on questions to more than 1,000 drivers, also found that 11 per cent of people had driven while under the influence of alcohol. People over 65 were more likely to drink and drive the survey found. Other findings: * Almost a third admitted to having spoken on hand-held phones while driving. * 16 per cent said they had texted while driving * 7 per cent said they had checked apps on their mobile phone while driving
