The country was greatly saddened today by the death of Bill O'Herlihy, the common denominator in most of the country's sporting success and failures over the last 30 years. Matt was joined on the show today by Ewan MacKenna who worked with Bill on his autobiography in 2012, pr consultant Terry Prone and commentator Jimmy Magee, to look back at Bill's extraordinary career. "I suppose what is striking me most is the length and breath of Bill's journalistic career", MacKenna says. "It's like a history of Irish broadcasting. Everyone will talk about the panel and soccer but long before that from the Cork Echo to Newsbeat to 7 Days, his career was astounding. What did strike me was how insecure he was doing the book, regularly questioning why he was doing it because no one would care about him and what he did. He was almost embarrassed and that insecurity added to his likability. As you know, a lot of television in RTE can be filled with egos, he never had one"
