After premiering at the SXSW festival in March, Patrick's Day went on to win Best Irish Feature Film at the Galway Film Fleadh, as well as three awards at New York's Woodstock Film Festival including Best Narrative Feature.
The movie is about Patrick, played by Moe Dunford, who is described as “a warm, open, twenty-six year old virgin schizophrenic”.
His mother’s protection means he is no threat to himself or anyone else, until he falls in love, his mother doesn’t approve and enlists the help of a detective to break them up.
Psychiatrist Professor Ivor Browne has given the film a resounding endorsement, going so far as to say that the film could have lasting societal impact on Irish society at large.
