As adults now we may see a flashy new car, owning a house, top label clothes etc. as a status symbol but growing up as a child in Ireland it was very different.
There was always little things that made us well jel.
And there was always a Richie Rich kid who had the proper designer gear and not the knock-offs!
I once owned a 'Calven Kleine' T-Shirt. Lasted for years and nobody noticed. We weren't the brightest.

Yo dude.. having a soda stream didn’t make ya rich.. having the gas AND the syrups for it was the rich part!! Twas often we’d have to try and make fizzy milk or just plain old water just to get a kick out of the machine!! Ahh the 80s!

Fergal, my parents got a big colour TV with a remote control (approx 1970), and all the kids on the road came in for a look! My parents used to leave it on the telly and get up to change channels! Jim
