Ever wonder why your favourite sweets have changed? Because they definitely have! Karen McEvoy felt so strongly about this, she sent a very strongly worded letter to "Mr Lucozade":
This rant keeps turning up on my news-feeds; people agree with Karen and want the old recipe back. Now, I'm not a fan of Lucozade myself but there are other treats that have changed so much over the years and I want them to change back. Burger Bites used to be bigger and taste former! Moros were the business - Boosts are their tiny, weedy cousin and they do not compare. Confectionery bosses, lay your hands off our junk. Please!
- “Hiya I complete agree about the Lucozade. I went from an addict, hiding the old bottles in backs of fridges in shops to never drinking it again. Love the show! - Trish in Cork
- “I’m a Coca-Cola connoisseur, it tastes different in all three continents I’ve been on. Coke even tastes different between Spain and Ireland. Much, much sweeter here!” - Tristan
- “Morning Paula. I want Cadbury’s to bring back the old tin of Roses...the tin used to be full of sweets and not full of air and wrappers like the tins today! Old tins used to last weeks!” - Helen
- “I really miss the coffee cream from the old Roses tin! They were the nicest sweet ever and now I don’t bother with roses!” – Dave
- “Good morning Paula. Cabury’s Roses have been cheapened, now it only tastes surgery sweet no taste of chocolate or filling.”
- “Morning Sweet P. Don't get me started! When I was a mere slip of a boy, Curley Wurlys were at least a foot long! Possibly a foot and a half! And as for Toblerone, whose idea was it to turn it into a Chocolate Toast Rack? Baaah!”
- “Cream crackers... Tasteless. Fish fingers... Synthetic fish. Chocolate Kimberly... So small, there's only one bite. I could keep adding to this list all day!”
- “Tayto cheese an onion, Paula, never been the same since they started using sunflower oil instead of good aul cooking fat!” - Paul
- “Good morning Sweet Pea don't know what happened to Oatfield Mint Humbugs - they seriously shrank. Only about half the size. Must have eaten about 10 of them last night.” -Grainne
- “Paula, remember when Snax crisps used to be puffs of light crispy heaven and now they are just blahhhhhhhh!” - Kev in Donegal
- “Bring back the Mr Freeze cool pops the big jumbo ones for 20p!” - Dave
- “So where have the Jelly Stars gone from the Afternoon Tea bikkies? It's a plot I tells ya - a PLOT!” - Dave, Clondalkin.
- “Morning Paula the little small macaroon bars used to be lovely but now I'd get more satisfaction chewing on cardboard!”
- “The Loop de Loop... crap chocolate and the rest is just mush now!”
- “Hi Paula, Wagon Wheels!! What happened? They're tiny now, and Smarties don't taste half as chocolaty anymore!” - Mike
- “McDonalds chips have changed, the burgers have changed and the ketchup is sour. The Big Mac is getting smaller! And Aeros, I used to love an Aero but now they’re gone to shite too!” - Darren
- “I wish they still made Smiley Bars and Postman Pat sweets!” - Fabian
- “Galaxy bars!!! When they were like the cylinder-ish shape and not the weird off-rectangle they are now, they were the best!”
- “The Creme Egg is tinchy now!”
- “Banshee bones were my favourite crisp, they would hurt you they were so salty and vinegary when I was small. Now they’re bland.”
- “Paula I used to get a Pink Snack simply for the 3 rather than 2 fingers. Why economise on your treat? I think they’re axed now, and Time Outs are the closest thing to them.”
- “Hey P Mac. Wibbly Wobbly Wonder! Perfect blend of chocolate and jello and two flavours of ice cream!!! And all for a reasonable price!”
