I get lots of requests for songs on The Early Breakfast, and some of the reasons behind the song choices are brilliant! So, I’ve decided to make a little feature out of it, at around 5.30 every morning – and it’s all up to you.
It'll be called...*drumroll*...The Dawn Chorus!
Let me know what your favourite song means to you – tell me your story. Was it your first dance? Perhaps it’s a song that reminds you of your Leaving Cert?
I’ll go first and give you an example. My song for the Dawn Chorus would be the Stereophonics, Dakota – and here’s why. When I was 20, I worked as a holiday rep in the South of France, in a place called Antibes (some spot!)
My sister Niamh was there too and we had one of the best summers of our lives. We worked hard and partied even harder – every single day and night. We also ran some of the entertainment in the resort – quiz nights, karaoke – you name it, we’d do it (anything for a few free bar tokens!). We made friends with two lads from the UK called Ash and Bud, who played together in a band and we used to hang out with them a lot. This song just brings back all the memories of that summer...and Niamh still denies anything happened with herself and Bud. *insert wink emoji*
So you get the picture!
Elaborate on the story a little bit and I’ll read it out and play your song.
And if it’s a REALLY good story...you may get a little present, for you from me...challenge laid down!
Email paula@todayfm.com and I’ll chat to you from 5am on Monday morning!
