A video was posted online of a Golden Retriever running through narrow streets of Yuncheng.

A man in China has his dog to thank for saving his life after he collapsed in a small alleyway.

The dog reportedly left his owner to find the ambulance and lead the emergency vehicle to him.

Dashcam footage from the ambulance shows the dog hurrying through the streets of the city, while constantly looking over his shoulder.

The reason for this? He was checking to make sure the ambulance was still behind him.

Jiang Xu, one of the paramedics said:

'After making sure we were following it, the dog then picked up speed and started running.'

The dog continued his heroic quest until they reached a crowd surrounding the unconscious owner outside his home.

The owner was collecting bottles at a neighbour's home when he suddenly collapsed on the ground in the narrow alleyway.

We simply do not deserve our furry friends.
