Harmless fun that brings us joy

“A guilty pleasure is an activity or piece of media that someone enjoys but would be embarrassed by if other people found out about it. ... Generally the guilty pleasure is something that might be viewed as shameful by some people, like trashy novels or overdone rom coms.”

Mine is I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here. It has everything I love in a TV show: hangry celebs with no make-up on. Well, that’s it really.

I’m not the only one who enjoys harmless guilty pleasures. The listeners of The Early Breakfast also got on board:

  • “When I’m cooking alone, I like to pretend I have my own cooking show. I told my best friend and she ‘co-starred’ once. I regret nothing!”

  • “I TRY to act like I don’t pay attention to Fair City when my wife watches it, but sometimes I really get into it. I like Carol.”

  • “The Gilmore Girls. I used to watch it in bed on weekend mornings and if my gf came in, I’d quickly change channels to make it look as if I’d been watching something entirely different.”

  • “Musicals. I can sing along and quote almost every musical out there. Try me!”

  • “I love my daughter’s music choices, Ariana, Billy Eilish etc. I’m a 41 year old dad who’s also an avid Metallica fan!”

  • “Whenever I’m at home alone, I usually end up on Youtube watching marriage proposal videos!”

  • “I LOVE popping pimples.”

  • “I used to tell people about writing poetry. I don't think I'm good anymore and it also feels pretentious to say I write poetry!”

  • “Japanese soap operas. I can't understand a word they are saying. I read the subtitles!”

  • “My wife loves Home and Away. I am always giving out and asking her to turn on something else but I kind of like it!”

  • “I daydream that I'm working as usual, than a villain comes in and I have to defend everyone, and an epic battle ensues.”

  • “I love to watch old wrestling classic matches on YouTube. Great fun!”

  • “Guilty pleasure: leaving work early and getting home and saying nothing!”

  • “My guilty pleasure is the morning shower before work. I just love to stand under the hot water. It’s a clean start to the day warms and wakes me up!”

  • “Morning Paula. 4 Words - The Devil Wears Prada. What a film!”

  • “I'm into older men.”

  • “Hi Paula. I love to secretly watch the golden buzzer auditions for America's/Britain's Got Talent. Nothing brings a tear to grown man's eyes, like seeing the joy and happiness in their faces when that buzzer is pressed!”

  • “Hey Paula! My guilty pleasure is rubbing tags from clothes. I cut them off and keep them in my dressing gown and under my pillow so I can rub them together when I’m watching telly or falling asleep. Such a comforting feeling!”

  • “I do arguments in my head with friends and people I know. PS: I always win!”

  • “My guilty pleasure is reading Maeve Binchy novels.”

  • “Fry’s mint cream!”

  • “Happy Tuesday P Mac. My guilty pleasure is watching the kids cartoons especially Disney!”

  • “My (maybe unhealthy) obsession with true crime and unsolved murders.”

  • “Paula, last Sunday during a severe hangover, I watched Little House on the Prairie, and I shed a tear towards the end!”
