Waterford woman Niamh Morrissey says cancer has been at the front of her family life since 2011.

Niamh says there seems no getting away from it.

Niamh is in the middle of her cancer journey after being diagnosed with breast cancer and is going in for a mastectomy on Monday morning.

Chatting to Dave on the Dermot & Dave Show Niamh said, 'It began with my brother-in-law being diagnosed with Lymphoma, having battled through it (his wife) my sister was then diagnosed with breast cancer 8 months later.

'While my sister battled through that, my brother-in-law's mother and first cousin both died of breast cancer.'

'It was a terrible time in all our lives and it would only get worse, a year later my Dad’s brother was diagnosed and died within 6 weeks.

'It was such a shock, my sister-in-laws father sadly passed away from cancer too and this past July she too was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Then three weeks later it was my turn, I was diagnosed with breast cancer too and I'm awaiting my mastectomy next week.

'Cancer is part and parcel of life and will probably affect everyone some way or another.'

Niamh bravely shared her story on the Dermot & Dave Show to shine awareness on Today FM's Dare To Care campaign, which you can listen to below.
