An officer who forcibly removed a passenger from a United Airlines plane has been suspended from duty.
The man has been placed on leave pending a thorough review of the situation.
The Chicago Department of Aviation is now investigating the incident, which led to a passenger being removed from an overbooked United Airlines flight on Sunday.
The boss of United Airlines has defended staff who called police to force the randomly chosen man off the plane.
The airline's chief executive insists treating customers with "respect and dignity is at the core of who we are".
Oscar Munoz has praised his team but says lessons could be learned.
