Dream volunteer job alert.

Andrea Hayes is a canine carer and volunteers at Dog’s Trust, Ireland’s largest dog welfare charity.

She helps rescued dogs find a loving family. Andrea is involved in the day-to-day care for almost 200 dogs, she's in and out of the busy vet practice, and makes endless pound runs.

She also learns something new every day!

Andrea says there's more to cuddling a dog than meets the eye.

She says the Japanese have come up with research that explains the feels you get when you look into a dog's eyes.

Oxytocin is released when you do it and that's the cuddle chemical that's released when you have a baby

Oxytocin also lowers your heart rate and it really helps with your general health

So that's that then, we all need to adopt dogs, because it's good for our health!

To date, the charity has sent over 6,000 dogs and puppies to their ‘forever homes’.
