Philip Gray is an Extreme Underwater Artist, he has already painted in shark infested waters and under icebergs as well as on Mount Everest and in rainforests.
His passion for the sea can be traced back to his childhood in Cork.
He says he inherited his creative and adventurous spirit from his mother’s side of the family
He spent many years in the Irish Navy where he became a skilled diver. After a few years, his love of diving and his love of painting joined together and he began painting under water.
He’s now in training to dive to even deeper lengths to paint a submerged city in China in the coming months.
Funnily enough he actually failed his art exam in school.
Fair to say, he's come a long way since then!
Philip will be at Art Source this weekend (November 10th – 12th) in the RDS in Dublin.
