If you think that the current colds snap is making it harder to get to work then spare a thought for people in the town of Oymyakon, Russia. This is life in what has been dubbed, The Coldest Town on Earth. It's currently hitting close to - 40oC. The average is -54!!!
It is so cold that people here regularly consume frozen meat, keep their cars running 24/7, planes cannot land in the winter, and they must warm the ground with a bonfire for several days before burying their dead. Above is an outside toilet attached to the petrol station. Looks comfy. Inside are two wooden slats above a pit. A sharp spire of frozen poo rises almost to ground level within the pit.

The single member of staff works 24hrs a day, 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off!
"Erm, I think I'll have a duvet day."
