Silicon Valley company Arx Pax have devised a “Hendo” hoverboard as a working prototype. The company want to make Marty McFly's preferred choice of transport a reality by launching a Kickstarter campaign today. They're asking for a quarter of a million dollars to get a larger project off the ground. The first 10 backers to contribute $10,000 will get a hoverboard to keep!
The Hoverboard uses the same kind of electromagnetic field technology that floats MagLev trains -- meaning it will only levitate over non-ferrous metals like copper or aluminum.
We could build an aluminium track on the footpath for hoverboard users!
