Long distance love can be tough.
You can text, talk, Skype, and write but there's nothing like being together.
Shane Leahy (17) and Maddie Walsh (18) came up with a genius idea to keep love's young dream alive.
Dingle lad Shane fell in love with Maddie when she was over from Boston visiting her Irish family.
When she left, he thought they would never see each other again, but no, Shane worked hard to save for a flight and eventually got over to her.
They realised then, they had something. Shane came home, but they dreamed of the next time they could be together.
Being skint students it was never going to happen... until they had a genius light-bulb moment.
They set up a GoFundMePage and it is flying!
At this point in time it has over a thousand dollars! Just goes to show that so many people really want love to keep alive.
On it they explain:
Shane and I both work a lot during the school year and the summer, so we understand the value of hard work and earning money, but between this and saving before we leave for college, it seems near impossible that we can make this summer work. We hope that people will be inspired by our story and dedication to one another and want to donate to our little love campaign. Anything can help, and we appreciate all of the support we have been receiving from our friends and family- monetarily but especially emotionally. We understand that this may seem a little silly but it would truly make our summer. Thank you.
Love,
Maddie and Shane
