Ever since Dr Niamh Shaw was a young girl she knew she wanted to travel into space.
Now that the engineer, performer and scientist is all grown up Niamh still hasn't given up on her dream of space travel.
Niamh said she always felt like something was missing from her life and one day she looked back at what she had managed to accomplish and realised she was sad that she had never managed to make her childhood dream of becoming an astronaut come true.
Niamh made the decision then and there to become an astronaut, and says other people should never give up on their dreams no matter how outlandish they may seem.
Dr Shaw has already experienced weightlessness and has joined the Mars Desert Research Station to take part in a simulation to experience what life on Mars would be like.
