For anyone out there unfamiliar with the name 'Marty Mone', I can guarantee you know his viral hit Hit The Diff. It's a marmite-type song that has split the nation, with the culchie's of Ireland embracing it as an anthem of sorts (I'm a culchie - so I can say that).
Love it or loathe it, there's no doubting it's catchy, and that Marty knows how to create a tune.
On Dermot and Dave this morning, the lads were doing their Cheese And Crackers song vote, where Dave picks a cheesy tune and Dermot picks a cracker, then it's up to the public to decide which one they'd prefer blasting out of the speakers.
To (some of) our delight, Marty's masterpiece got 57% of the vote, and after it played there was a huge reaction. In the midst of all this, it was brought to our attention that the Monaghan man has a new track out #exciteddotcom
The lads played a snippet of it, and as they did, all of us here in the office thought it sounded very much like a more country version of Athy superstars, Picture This.
Of course, we'll let you make up your own minds, but it's hard not to admit that he sounds a bit like Ryan Hennessy. Maybe even a touch of Mumford and Sons too?? Here it is...
We're absolutely loving his latest work, and look forward to what else he has up his sleeve.
