Friday 3rd October saw the great and the good of the radio world congregate in Kilkenny for the PPI Radio Awards - affectionately dubbed the Oscars for Radio. Everyone from local and national radio the length and breadth of the country descended on the Lyrath Estate to rub shoulders and see who would take home the much coveted trophies.
Things got off to a great start for Today FM with the induction of Tony Fenton into the PPI Hall of Fame and so began a night to remember.
Over the course of the evening, expertly hosted by Gunther Gruhn (aka Barry Murphy), Today FM picked up 3 bronze awards (for Ray D'Arcy, Tony Fenton and Premier League Live), 5 silver (The Ray D'Arcy Show, Paul McLoone, Shave or Dye, Championship Sunday and the National Lunchtime News) and 3 gold trophies.
The first gold award was collected by Gift Grub in the Entertainment Inserts category and that was followed by another gold for The Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show which once again won the Breakfast Programme gong.
But the best was saved for last as the final and most coveted award of the night - Full Service Station - was announced with Today FM taking home the gold award.
A huge thank you to all of our wonderful listeners for helping us make the best radio station in the country!
