Web Summit is Europe’s largest festival of ideas and has been dubbed “Davos for geeks.” Founded in 2010, this year’s Web Summit, which runs from today until Thursday, will host more than 20,000 attendees and guests.
Over 600 speakers are confirmed for Web Summit 2014, including: Peter Thiel, co-founder of Paypal and Palantir as well as the first investor in Facebook; Drew Houston, founder of Dropbox; Padmasree Warrior, CTSO of Cisco; John Sculley, former CEO of Apple; Brendan Iribe, CEO of Oculus; and Eva Longoria of the Eva Longoria Foundation.
Here are some of the highlights to look out for on Day 1 of Web Summit 2014:
- 10:00-10:30: Anna Patterson, VP Engineering at Google on the Builders stage (Keynote)
- 10:20-10:40: Sonny Vu of Misfit Wearables takes to the Machine stage
- 10:30-10:45: The Klein Report, written by Saul Klein, Index Ventures is revealed on the main stage
- 12:20-12:35: Eva Longoria talks to Jemima Khan on main stage (Vanity Fair)
- 13:00-13:45: Abigail Disney talks to Pat Kenny on the Library Stage
- 13:20-14:30: Spark of Genius Final on the Builders stage
- 14:10-14:35: NASDAQ Opening Bell on main stage
- 15:15-15:35: Werner Vogels of Amazon) talks to Ben Rooney on main stage
- 16:10-16:40: Simon Kuper talks to Bill James of Boston Red Sox at the Sports Summit
- 16:40-17:00: Drew Houston of Dropbox talks to Laurie Segall of CNN on main stage
