Would you try a deep-fried jam sandwich? Well, having heard about an Australia restaurant dishing them up, we had to try!

Irish siblings Will and Claire Dolan co-own an award-winning chip shop in Australia, The Traditional Chip Shop, with Will's wife Suzanne.

The two from Kells, Co. Meath have added two new shops to their chain and are planning to launch another in 2016 as well as a mobile version.

As well as all the staples from an Irish chipper, everything from snack boxes to battered sausages, they have an unusual item on the menu which is attracting a lot of attention: The deep fried jam sandwich or "Jammy Wotsit" as they call it. It has proved to be so successful that last week it won them Best Start-Up at the Irish/Australian awards for Irish-owned businesses.

Would you eat a deep fried sambo?

It does look tasty... So we sent our Ronan Casey out to try and get an Irish restaurant to re-create this culinary delight.

He struck gold with Super Miss Sue, a cracking Italian seafood restaurant on Drury Street in Dublin, which happens to have its own fish and chip shop attached!

JOHN FROM SUPER MISS SUE (SMS) WITH A JAM SAMBO

Their team in the kitchen agreed to make one and fry it up. Ronan brought the results to our guest host Neil Delamere, who agreed, it was delicious.

As a special Christmas treat, the team at Super Miss Sue (SMS) put the jam sandwiches on the menu for one day only, with all proceeds from their sale going to the Simon Community
