Being a good bartender is an art. It is not about just pouring drinks. It's about being a psychologist, a mathematician, a stand-up, customer care specialist and when it comes to controlling the queue - you have to be a ring master!
It's a tough gig and as customers we don't want to make it any harder.
So, the best way to get served is a skill WE all want to master.
One of the biggest 'No, No's' was ordering your Guinness last or as an after thought, NEVER wave cash around...and only click your fingers at an Irish bartender if you want your soul removed and dumped in an alleyway.

Never click your fingers or whistle for attention! Think that's everywhere in hospitality to be fair. Also paying by card all night in a busy bar, even though we offer cash back nearly everytime you come up. So annoying and such a waste of time waiting on the things to connect! Bar rules. Never click your fingers you will be last to be served. A good bar tender will know the people who are next. Give full order most bar people can take in five or six drinks at least. Nothing worse than having to go back and the person saying one drink at a time the next time they come up they may get put to the back of cue. Please have money ready if it’s busy. If in a place for the night, on the first round of drinks, give a tip, doesn't have to be big, barman will pick you out quicker for the rest of the night. Malcolm

Worst thing people can do is ask for one drink at a time. We all despise constantly running around getting individual drinks that we could get at the same time. Even worse when they ask for a Guinness LAST!

Without doubt the worst rule to break in a busy bar is to call a round of drinks and when they’re all ready you get “ohh and a pint of Guinness aswell” Paul Limerick
Order your Guinness first, don't click your fingers unless you want to die of thirst and this isn't an episode of Eastenders....a pint of what exactly??

Used In bars and night clubs in cork, people who tap coins on the counter or wave 50s in your face as if to say "I have money out serve me first".. also on my first night in night club my friends followed me up and down the bar singing my name for the first half an hour, nearly got fired on my first night. I worked in a bar for years, its a skill , my pet hate was when someone clicked at me, i once gave his money back and took the pint off him!! Dave
