NAME THAT GOON
A Twitter thread by Irish election literature expert, @electionlit Alan Kinsella, who is the current curator of the @Motherfoclóir Twitter account and who has been collecting referendum leaflets since 1983, has given a great laugh and given us a great idea.
Wouldn't it make the election posters much easier to bear if every candidate HAD TO include a campaign middle name to give us a sense of their identity?
If you were running for election what would your campaign middle name be?
What if there was one of those name generator websites where election candidates could enter their name and it would produce the perfect middle name for their campaign?
Check out the thread compiled by Alan of some of the legendary campaign names from over the years...
One of the things with Local Elections is that there are many more candidates with nicknames.
