Christmas is fast approaching and we’d like to take a moment to reflect on what that means to us. It’s the most wonderful time of the year, filled with festivity, joy, laughter and love. Beautiful indeed. However, if like me, you go home for a few days, it can also be a time when your loved ones and those around you DRIVE YOU MAD. Don’t get me wrong, I love my family, but at Christmas, there are always....moments.
1) Putting all the wrappers back in the sweet tin.
Not acceptable behaviour people. Just throw them out. Right?
2) Eating all the good sweets and leaving the absolute dregs
You must take your fair share of coffee sweets like the rest of us.
3) Going down to the second layer in the box of chocolates without permission
You can only go down to the second layer once everyone is present and in agreement.
4) Coming home from the pub on Christmas Eve and horsing into the ‘good food’
This actually happened. Not cool. Are you trying to give your poor Mother heart failure?
5) Parents reverting to ‘fussy’ mode, even though you are a fully grown adult.
I am 28. Do not wake me. I will rise when I am ready. Thank you. (However, you kind of enjoy being spoiled rotten, right?)
6) Not letting you watch Willy Wonka
But, it’s Christmas. I have to watch Willy Wonka.
7) Forcing you to watch the ‘Eastenders Christmas Special Of Doom’
We know the drill, someone gets married and someone will get knocked down outside The Vic. NEXT!
8) Dirtying the ‘fancy’ dishes / glasses before Christmas dinner
Mam will ‘cut the hands off you’ if she finds out.
9) Picking the jelly off the Jelly biscuit in ‘Afternoon Tea’ box (which no longer even exists)
It’s gone now anyway, so no one gets it. HA!
10) Pulling all the crackers before everyone is ready
Wait until everyone can enjoy the fun.
