Rain, rain, and, yep, more rain. Not quite what we had in mind either.
Before you get too blue about the weather, check out our list of rainy day activities to get you through the weekend.
- Put the popcorn in the microwave and get that DVD player warmed up – when else are you going to get through that stack of box sets?
- Try your hand at writing – unleash your inner poet, even if it is just lyrics about the weather
- Dust off those cookbooks and create a three course meal with all the trimmings – you’ve time to sit down and enjoy it
- Sort out your old photographs – both the ones in the shoebox under your bed as well as the ones taking up space in your massive iPhoto library
- Turn off your smartphone and take a long nap…. Zzzzzz….
- Don’t procrastinate any longer – dig out your home DIY kits and start ticking things off your list
- Pick up a book or your Kindle and get lost in that thriller/romance/crime you bought yourself 12 months ago
- Redecorate – a splash of paint will brighten things up before autumn calls next month
- Catch up with your mates – invite them over for brunch/dinner or for a bit of competitive board game playing
- Get to know your neighbours – throw a party!
- Do something romantic – set the scene with a candlelit dinner, or run a warm bath for your over-worked loved one
- Create a scrapbook for the year to date – rummage through that tin of old ticket stubs and invites and create something that you’ll have to keep
- Have a fashion show – try on your old clothes and bag the ones that you really don’t have space for. You know you’re never going to wear it…
- Work out at home – use the floor for push ups, the stairs for steps and get your yoga mat out for stretching
- Got for a walk in the rain – grab an umbrella and your wellies and go jump in some puddles! Let the rain wash away your worries
