The polls opened in Northern Ireland at 7am this morning - for the second time in less than a year.
Today's election was triggered after the collapse of the Assembly's power-sharing agreement in January.
228 candidates are contesting 90 seats across 18 constituencies, with the major parties - the Democratic Unionist Party and Sinn Féin - likely to be the big winners once again.
However Belfast based correspondent Alan Murray says the so called 'cash-for-ash' controversy could see a drop in the DUP vote:
