The Meteor Choice Music Prizeshortlist for Irish Album of the Year 2013, in association with IMRO and IRMA, was announced this afternoon (8th January 2014) by Alison Curtis on the Tony Fenton Show, with the able assistance of Paul McLoone.

The winning album will be announced at the Meteor Choice Music Prize live event at Vicar Street on Thursday 27th February. The event will be broadcast live on Today FM in a special four hour extended programme during the Paul McLoone Show.
Last year’s winners were Delorentos, winner of the Irish Album of the Year, and Gavin James, winner of the Irish Song of the Year.
Tune into the Paul McLoone Show from 9pm tonight to hear Paul discussing the nominees in greater detail with Meteor Choice chairman Tony Clayton Lea.

The winning act will receive €10,000, a prize fund which has been provided by the Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO) and the Irish Recorded Music Association (IRMA). All of the shortlisted acts will receive a specially-commissioned award, courtesy of IMRO and IRMA. Culture Ireland will fund the attendance of key overseas delegates at the event while RAAP and Music Week are also official project partners.
Tickets for the Meteor Choice Music Prize live event will go on sale on Ticketmaster on Friday January 10th, priced €23.50 including booking fee.
