Doctors have attacked the upcoming Arthur's Day event organised by Diageo to promote Guinness.
The Royal College of Physicians of Ireland is hosting a public meeting tomorrow evening, “Join the National Conversation on Alcohol; Who’s calling the shots”.
The event, which takes place in the run up to Arthur’s Day, will provoke discussion around the dark side of our relationship with alcohol – abusive alcohol consumption and underage drinking.
It will also consider the alternatives to binge drinking. The public meeting takes place tomorrow, Monday, 23 September, at 6pm in the RCPI premises, 6 Kildare Street, Dublin 2.
Dr Stephen Stewart, Specialist in Liver Disease and Director of the Liver Disease Centre in the Mater Hospital, said we don't need another excuse to drink.
