200 thousand Irish people may be in the early stages of diabetes, according to new research.
The study by VHI Healthcare has also found that 24 thousand people could have undiagnosed type two diabetes.
Health experts have issued a warning of the damage caused by high glucose, and is urging people to be aware of the warning signs.
